How to Jumpstart your home search in 3 easy steps!

I wanted to share a little more about my personal journey of buying a home in Jamaica.

I remember the first time my husband and I thought about buying a home in Jamaica in 2015. I was so excited to purchase a home, but quickly learned it was not as easy as buying a home in the U.S.!

I felt like I didn't know where to start. Which development was best? What location was ideal for Airbnb? How would I manage the home from overseas?

We finally decided on a home in Drax Hall Manor near Ocho Rios. We bought from Kemtek, a large developer in Jamaica. During the process we found there were documents that we had to gather. I also had to apply for my Tax Registration Number (TRN). We had to open a bank account, apply for a mortgage and find a reputable attorney. As we moved further into the purchasing process we found there were "hidden costs" like escalation fees, vendor attorney fees, etc..., that we were not prepared for.

I don't say all this to scare you, but it is helpful to have guidance and coaching during your buying journey in Jamaica.

Fast forward to 2025...The home we bought in Drax Hall Manor is in a beautiful community and it has been a successful Airbnb as well as long term rental since 2016. It went so well that we have purchased multiple other properties, in various locations, since then and all are highly profitable.

Now that I've been through the process multiple times I can say it is MUCH easier each time we purchase a home because I know what to expect.

After buying a few homes and experiencing and figuring out the above challenges I decided to start a YouTube channel to share my insight and knowledge. I now enjoy helping others bring their dreams of home ownership in Jamaica to fruition.
